I installed these in a really nice PRS SE that I just never quite warmed up to. The new owner of that axe wanted the original pickups with the guitar, so these have been living in a drawer for several months. The leads are very close to original length and the covers are unmarked. The pickups are as close to new as you'll see. Of the Barbecue Bucker, Rio says: "A classic 50's style Humbucking, but alot more horsepower under the hood! Our most popular humbucking to date....Not a distortion pickup, just more muscle." They describe the Geniune Texas as "A bit less powerful than the BBQ, this one is ballsy and rich when wide open yet clean with lots of top and bottom when rolled back slightly." I bought the cab empty and in rough shape, and brought it back to life with a new handle, casters, jackplate, drivers, and multiple tolex repairs. Cab comes with both casters and custom-made rubber feet (because these cabs sound best when planted firmly on the floor). The drivers are a mix of mid-70’s “Blackbacks” and vintage and reissue Greenbacks. The so-called Blackbacks are G12M (i.e., Greenback) drivers with 55Hz cones, which were the speaker of choice for several notable guitarists, including Hendrix. These cones are quite beefy-sounding, and very similar to the cones in the G12H, but the lighter driver structure of the G12M makes them a bit more responsive. The Greenbacks sport a more conventional 75Hz cone and have more top-end, as you would expect from Greenbacks. The drivers are paired in stereo (one Green, one Black per side) and together generate a huge and complete soundfield. The cab will run stereo or mono. Because it still wears its original tolex, it shows some minor nicks, but is fully-functional and sounds exceptional. The compliment of mostly-vintage speakers makes this a one-of-a-kind cab.
